Bay of Islands Pohutukawa Honey from Don Buck Honey

I have available a special batch of Pohutukawa honey from some ISLANDS in the Bay of Islands in the Far North of New Zealand. The hives that this honey came from can only be accessed by boat. This honey was harvested between some fishing and diving and then brought back to the mainland on the boat. Produced by an affiliate beekeeper (although I helped harvest and pot it!) and brought to you by Don Buck Honey.

Pohutukawa honey is collected from the flowers of the Pohutukawa tree – fondly known as the ‘New Zealand Christmas tree’, since they decorate themselves with masses of red flowers every summer before Christmas. Pohutukawa honey is a very light colored honey, although this batch is darker as it has a dash of Kanuka honey in it which the bees also foraged while the Pohutukawa trees were flowering. It is one of the sweeter varieties of honey we make in NZ. Some people say they can taste a faint salty hint in Pohutukawa honey from the coastal climate the trees grow in.

I’m selling this in 370g pots for $14 or four for $50. Less again if brought in larger quantities. Also available in a Far North Five pot variety pack ($60).

Pickups are from Massey, or orders can be couriered to you with Post Haste. Go to my website to place an order or get in touch!

Mobile classrooms teach more than 200,000 tamariki annually across Aotearoa

Life Education Trust New Zealand has been a beacon of empowerment for Kiwi children and youth for over 35 years. Through innovative teaching programmes, this trust has touched the lives of tamariki and rangatahi across the country, helping them grow and thrive. Supported by funding from Te Puna Tahua Lottery Grants Board, through funds raised by Lotto New Zealand players, Life Education Trust's initiatives - including the renowned ‘Healthy Harold’ programme - have been instrumental in shaping the educational landscape in Aotearoa.

With mobile classrooms traversing the nation, Life Education Trust reaches over 200,000 tamariki every year, bringing quality education to various communities. The unique approach of using specialist educators and Harold the giraffe mascot creates a safe and engaging learning environment.

Life Education Trust is set to launch Harold's Studio this year. This new endeavour will leverage technology to deliver Healthy Harold lessons through online platforms, showcasing the trust's commitment to evolving and enhancing its educational offerings to meet the changing needs of tamariki.

One hundred percent of Lotto New Zealand’s profits go back to support thousands of great causes all over Aotearoa. So, every time you play any Lotto NZ game, it’s a win for our communities, and it’s a win for our tamariki.

We are continuing our Q&A sessions on Neighbourly. This week we have the amazing Sacha Green from Citizens Advice Bureau New Zealand (CABNZ) who will be answering your questions about your renting rights.

A little bit about Sacha:
She has been working for CABNZ for 10 years and is passionate about empowering people with knowledge of their rights as well as ensuring access to justice.

She helps support the team of over 2,000 trained volunteers who deliver the CAB service in 80 neighbourhoods around Aotearoa by providing advice and support at a national level on a wide range of issues. One of Sacha’s work areas is leading the CAB’s social justice work on housing and tenancy issues.

Whether you're a flatmate, landlord, boarder or flatmate, you can leave a comment below and Sacha will share an answer on Wednesday from 9.30am. You may want to ask about notice periods, bond fulfillment, reasonable rent increases, or even whose responsibility it is to deal with mould in the home.

Join Sacha here on Wednesday at 9.30am. See you then!.
