Thames/Coast Expert Sea Flooding Advice Ignored

Denis from Thames

Recently I have been pointing out the urgent need to identify coastal flooding hazards – particularly on the Thames side of the Peninsula, for a close partnership between the Regional Council and the District Council and for community consultation and engagement.

This very same advice was given 18 years ago by coastal scientist Jim Dahm in a comprehensive report for the Waikato Regional Council. See the link below for what he advised.

18 years later his advice is still being ignored by decision makers. 18 years in which to tackle these issues has been wasted. We cannot afford to waste a moment longer. The time for the Councils to front up is well overdue.
