Heavy rain triggers slip closing highway near Greymouth
Heavy rain has triggered another slip on a crumpling West Coast road, forcing its closure and diverting traffic away until at least Friday morning.
A historically active slip between Greymouth and Stillwater at Omoto, which moved after weeks of wet weather in mid-August, moved another 30 centimetres from 8am on Wednesday, a release from the NZ Transport Agency said.
As a result, the section of State Highway 7, the main road linking Reefton and Greymouth, was closed.
Although NZTA initially expected the road to reopen on Thursday afternoon, it would now not reopen until at least 10am on Friday.
Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?
An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.
When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
