Jawbone from 11-metre-long whale stolen from West Coast beach
A jawbone from an 11-metre long sperm whale has been stolen from a beach north of Okarito on the West Coast.
The whale was seen on the beach by a Glacier Country Helicopter pilot on Saturday and reported to the Department of Conservation (DOC).
When DOC staff and a Te Rūnanga o Makaawhio representative went to the beach on Sunday morning, the whale bone had been taken.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
