The Grey, Westland and Buller district mayors met acting Prime Minister Winston Peters and Regional Development Minister Shane Jones in Wellington on Tuesday to discuss how the region could get its share of the Government's $3 billion Provincial Growth Fund

Westland Mayor Bruce Smith said the meatworks had a consent to discharge into the ponds.

Thomas Loefke learnt his trade in Dublin from Ireland's leading harp players - Máire Ní Cháthasaigh, Helen Davies and Áine Ní Dhúill. Since 1984 he has been playing professionally and has won several international prizes, including first prize at the O'Carolan Harp Festival in Keadue. His 2nd album Norland Wind was released by the Irish top class label Celtic Heartbeat. Besides his work with Norðan and Norland Wind featuring Clannad’s Noel Duggan, he also tours with Riverdance violinist Máire Breatnach, Cello/guitar-duo Acoustic Eidolon, pianist Lutz Gerlach, and as a soloist.
