This Tuesday, 26th June at the Old Lodge Irish harp player will give a one -off performance of a collection of music he has entitled "Northern Isles Soundscapes"

Thomas Loefke learnt his trade in Dublin from Ireland's leading harp players - Máire Ní Cháthasaigh, Helen Davies and Áine Ní Dhúill. Since 1984 he has been playing professionally and has won several international prizes, including first prize at the O'Carolan Harp Festival in Keadue. His 2nd album Norland Wind was released by the Irish top class label Celtic Heartbeat. Besides his work with Norðan and Norland Wind featuring Clannad’s Noel Duggan, he also tours with Riverdance violinist Máire Breatnach, Cello/guitar-duo Acoustic Eidolon, pianist Lutz Gerlach, and as a soloist.

The country's top police officers are preparing to open a new investigation into the Pike River mine explosion, but some victims' families feel it's left a "sour taste".

Bernie Monk (pictured below) has laboured on behalf of some of the families of the 29 men killed when the West Coast mine exploded in November 2010. His son Michael, 23, died in the disaster. Monk says he's been ignored and "fobbed off" in his fight for justice but always knew police would "turn up back on the doorstep".
