Geoff from Central Whangarei

Good People

For Thursday, the 12th October at 6pm we have the One-Night-Only screening of the Mel Gibson and Anthony Hopkins classic, The Bounty.

Please note: There is no film screening for the 8pm session.

The Bounty
UK, Adventure/Drama, 113 mins, Rated PG

As part of celebrations for the Whangarei Maritime Festival, WFS is proud to be screening this 1984 retelling of one of the most famous of all sea stories.

Whilst this epic story boasts all the top actors of the time, the real star is the replica of The Bounty, which was made and launched right here in Whangarei in 1978.

Don't miss your chance to see a piece of Whangarei history on the big screen!

View the trailer at: www.youtube.com...

Tickets: Door sales only. Price: $10 for WFS members, $15 for non members. Cash only please - no Eftpos/credit card services available.

Thanks and farewell to the Whangārei Leader

The Team from Whangarei District Council

Today's edition of the Whangārei Leader is its last. We've been proud publishers of the "Council News" section for decades and we're sad to see this era come to an end.

We don't want anyone to miss out on the "need to know" so we're encouraging readers to sign up to our fortnightly email newsletter, What's New Whangārei: www.wdc.govt.nz...
