Whangarei Film Society - Screenings for Thursday July 6th

Geoff from Central Whangarei

Good People

For Thursday, the 6th July at 6pm we are screening Corsage, a witty and dramatic biopic of one of the most fascinating personalities of the 19th century, Empress Elisabeth of Austria.

Our 8pm screening is the heart warming Australian film, A Stitch in Time.

Both screenings will be in the Capitaine Bougainville Theatre.

Corsage
Austria, Germany, Luxembourg and France, 2022, Drama, Rated M
French, German, Austrian and Hungarian with English subtitles
Cast: Vicky Krieps, Florian Teichtmeister, Katharina Lorenz Jeanne Werner Alma Hasun Manuel Rubey, Colin Morgan
Director: Marie Kreutzer

Empress Elisabeth of Austria is turning 40. In Vienna in 1877, that’s considered over the hill.

But Elisabeth is not one to bow to public expectation. As such, she works strategically to maintain her image within the confines of courtly life and deal with the complicated relationship she has with her husband, the Emperor Franz Joseph.

“A witty subversion of biopic and costume-drama.” – Variety
