INVITATION TO TAKE PART IN THE SILENT LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE

Carolynne from Akina

Hastings Hearing is taking part in the 2017
SILENT LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE
The Silent Leadership Challenge which was initiated by the National Foundation for the Deaf in 2103 has become an annual event. This year the National Foundation for the Deaf is supporting us at Hastings Hearing to take part in this challenge for the first time.
The Silent Leadership Challenge will see participants tackle three communication challenges at
work and one at home while wearing bright yellow hearing protectors to simulate deafness.
The ten minute challenges, to be undertaken on or around Friday 4 August, are a one-to-one
meeting, a team meeting, a social get-together and watching TV with the family (without captions).
This will only take 40 minutes of your day, but the impact and social change it creates could be
life-long. You’ll experience for yourself the challenges faced every day by those who have a
hearing loss.

Hastings Hearing a not for profit community organisation dedicated to educating as many people as possible about the causes and prevention of noise induced hearing loss. This type of hearing loss is 100% preventable. Hearing loss is an invisible disability affecting one in six New Zealanders. To achieve this awareness we offer a specifically designed free Education Program that is available to everyone in our community. It is important to us to raise awareness in our community about hearing loss and we feel that the most effective way to do this is through our Education Program.
Our ultimate goal is to make a difference within our community by continuing to create an awareness of hearing loss. All funds raised from the Silent Leadership Challenge will go towards ensuring that as many people as possible in our community are able to participate in our education program and receive this very important information.
This event raises awareness of hearing loss, is a fundraiser and can also be a fun event for you to take part in. You can participate in this Challenge as an individual or a group. Why not make it a team building event for your workplace?

Poll: If we want to reduce speeding, what do you think actually changes driver behaviour? 🛻🚨🚓

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In the Post's article on speeding penalties, the question is asked whether speeding fines are truly about road safety, or are they just a way to boost revenue for the Crown?

What do you think? Should speeding motorists receive speeding fines or demerit points?
