Today's Ceremony was held at Albert Square, Hastings.
It was sobering to listen to the Roll Of Honour read allowed, to hear the names, ages and years that people had died at the hand of another person. To see the photos of children who never grew up to see their future and not live out the hopes and dreams of what could have been, was heartbreaking.
It was my privilege and honour to help lead today's service and to meet the family members who came to give tribute and honour their person. However, when I looked in their eyes and greeted them with a handshake, I felt sadness and grief. To hear an older man talk of his son who was killed when he was 50 years old and to realise that as parents our babies are always our babies no matter how old they are and to have someone take a child away is beyond all understanding. To watch a grown woman cry because her father was killed 20 years ago - she looks so young, how old could she have been?
When I grew up in Napier in the '70s and '80s, I remember what happened to our community as we grieved the loss of those who were slain as victims of kidnapping and homicide.
Later in the early '90s, I lived in Dunedin, and again, I recall my friends who were taken at the hand of another person.
I cannot begin to imagine how life has been for the survivors of homicide victims, but without a doubt, I can say "I am so very sorry, and my deepest love is with surviving family and friends."
Thanks for listening, Neighbours and Friends. Also, thanks to Mayor Sandra Hazelhurst for attending today and joining with others in their open speeches of unity. Coleen Davey and Linda Walsh and Linda's mum Joanne are wonderful volunteers to organise the event for today and bring us together. Thank you.

Is anyone else having problems with their internet ?
We are on copper connection ADSL
We can go days without a problem with very good speeds. Then randomly we get constant disconnections throughout a day or two. Phoned Spark and just get the usual response that it must be a problem at our end.

But today I was talking to someone who has the exact same problem.
I have tried different modems connected to different jack outlets and have the same problem.
It is definitely an issue outside of our property.

If anyone got any spare tickets for General Admission, please let me know. Some people may have doubled up if friends were also trying to get them for the group. .... I was on the right place before 9:01 and had thousands in front of me.. tickets went on sale at 9am. Far out, that is popular! On the bright side, I did remember my password for the pre-sales and was worried I might not get that part right!
Do you support the ban on smoking and vaping in cars with children?
The Government intends to make it illegal to smoke and vape in vehicles when people younger than 18 are inside. But police say it would be dishing out fines those who could least afford to pay them. To read more, click here

IT HAS BEEN VERY UPSETTING BUT THE LOVE AND SUPPORT OF SO MANY PEOPLE THROUGH MESSAGES AND PHONE CALLS HAS MADE IT MANAGEABLE. THANKS TO THE WONDERFUL FAMILIES THAT HAVE TAKEN THEM IN. THEY WILL BE MUCH LOVED AND REALLY ENJOY THE CHILDREN TO PLAY WITH.
Marlee is a Golden cavoodle looking for a new forever home. She is a 3 year old first generation cavoodle and has a beautiful nature. Loves people and great with children. Always looking for cuddles. Very soft nature and just wants to please. No bad habits and loves to run! Runs well off road without the lead and always comes back when called.
Murphy is a shitzu/Maltese dog how is 3 1/2 years old. He is very cruzy and loves to be near you. Is amazing with the elderly and also young children.
Both dogs are in good health and have no medical conditions. They have both been de-sexed. All vaccines up to date. Has had regular vet checks. They are slim built dogs and not big eaters.
I am really sad to have to find a new home for my dogs. Due to work conditions I need to sadly say goodbye. They need to be with a home that has people there most of the time. Not suitable for a working owner who is not home for long periods of time. Would fit into a busy family really well. Would also cope with an elderly owner.
They have been brought up together but in the right home I would be willing to separate them.
