Relief for Pirongia residents as temporary Mangati bridge due to open this week
Pirongia farmer Tegan Hills is relieved to have a temporary bridge over the Ngakoaohia Stream to reconnect her with her community.
Construction crews have installed a temporary bridge near the Mangati Stream, south of Pirongia, after the original bridge was destroyed in flooding earlier this year.
The aim is to open the bridge to traffic and reconnect State Highway 39 between Pirongia and Otorohanga by the end of the week.

Whether it’s a courgette takeover or a feijoa frenzy, don’t let those garden gems go to waste!
Our suggestion to you: Did you know you can grate and freeze excess courgettes to use in chocolate cake later? It sounds a bit dodgy, but it makes the cake incredibly moist ... and hey, it counts as a serving of veg, right? 🍫
