Can you help?
WOOL NEEDED
Do you have any wool or acrylic wool that is surplus to your requirements? Our group of ladies make squares and strips that are knitted or crocheted into blankets. We also make jumpers, hats and scarves. These are sent to a distribution centre in Moldova for distribution to very needy people in Romania, Moldova and the Ukraine. Right now the need is very great – there is war in the Ukraine, and Moldova and Romania are very close by. The people live in constant fear for their lives and there is little work and much poverty to add to their woes so if you can help, we would be very grateful. We are willing to do the knitting etc but we are constantly running out of supplies so any amounts – big or small – would be gratefully received. The children in the group picture are displaying blankets made by ladies from our group. Call me if you can help and I will arrange to pick up any donations you might be willing to give. Many thanks. First introduced in New Zealand in 1927 with the passing of the Summer Time Act, it's what we know as 'Daylight Saving' and this year it ends on the first Sunday in April.
While we do get to sleep in this time around, some people would like to scrap the clock tinkering for good.
And why? Some evidence suggests the time changes are bad for our health as they mess with sleep patterns leading to short-term fatigue and affecting mood. Meanwhile the hour change is frustrating for farmers and a nightmare for getting the littlies to sleep. But what's your take?
