Join EarthDiverse, and local artists, writers and lecturers Peter Dornauf, MA and Norman Franke, PhD for a wonderful day excursion to the Auckland Art Gallery and a guided tour of the Gothic Art exhibition entitled GOTHIC RETURNS: FUSELI TO FOMINSON. Loosely termed ‘gothic’ the exhibition embraces everything from horror stories to hauntings and everything in between. Hitchcock was a master at conjuring these demons in film, but artists from the romantic period through to the present have dipped their brush into that dark inky world and danced with the devil of the ghoulish, the spooky and the downright unnerving. Participants can choose to explore some artwork of the AAG's permanent collection, particularly the restored Brueghel the Younger painting ('The Village Fair') and can have some free time to explore other parts of the museum, Albert Park and the near-by shops such as Smith & Caughey's or Unity Books.
• When: Saturday 23 March 2024.
• Bus departs 9:00am from in front of the EarthDiverse Centre at 401 Anglesea Street and returns around 6:00pm.
For more information and registration click the read more link below.
Price includes round-trip bus transport from Hamilton and a guided tour of the Exhibition. Lunch is on your own.

The scale of a proposal to cut jobs at Hamilton City Council by 7% is not worth the “destruction it will cause”, says a councillor.
But one of the elected members behind the proposal has hit back, slamming some councillors for their “self-serving rhetoric” and “selective narrative“.

Matua Hone Waudby has only been Bankwood Primary’s principal for around 18 months, and in that time he’s been slowly working on turning the school around.
That includes changing when the school year starts and finishes, in a bid to make it easier on families.
