With no significant rain forecast until “maybe” later this month, grass is a hot commodity and dry stock farmers who’ve taken on dairy farmers’ heifers want to give them back.

Following a meeting of the adverse event cluster group in early March, Agriculture Minister Todd McClay declared a medium scale adverse event for the region, along with other parts of the country.
