Burning plastic or rubber in Nawton
Kiaora Neighbours just a friendly reminder to be responsible with what you burn in your home or outdoor fires. Around 6pm I noticed toxic fumes (smelt like burning plastic) coming from someone's fire that had come into my home from an open window. I almost choked on it but even worse it set my young daughters asthma off. Even though I closed the window the fumes hung around for an hour. I didn't realise I could call the council until it was too late to track where it might be coming from. Please be considerate to the health of others when it comes to disposing of rubbish that may cause toxic fumes when burned. Thankyou
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
