I have rung all the clubs in Hamilton, Workingmans Club, Commerce Club, Cossie Club etc and they either have no classes that night or we need someone in our group to be a member. The Gambling Commission will make the final call on whether or not to allow it, but now there's going to be a public hearing so everyone can have their say.
SkyCity says the loss of tables would off-set the increase in pokie machines, and the move is part of a broader strategy.
Hamilton City Council opposes the application, and Cr Dave Macpherson said the casino has become "a giant pokie bar".
