The interregional service between Hamilton and Auckland was recently given the green light to operate seven days a week, with the new Sunday schedule set to launch on July 27.
Do you like the idea of a Sunday Te Huia service? Tell us your reasons in the comments (adding NFP if you don't want your words used in print).

Waikato rugby legend Duane Monkley is widely regarded as among the unluckiest players to never represent the All Blacks.
The openside flanker was a dominant figure at NPC level, but played in a talented era of New Zealand loose forwards.

"The antidote to inheritance drama isn’t complicated: start talking.
The best-prepared families discuss values, not just valuables. They talk about timing - could part of the inheritance be gifted earlier when it might have more impact? They update wills regularly and include everyone in understanding the bigger picture.
They also acknowledge that financial literacy isn’t inherited along with the money. If you’re expecting to leave or receive a significant sum, everyone involved should understand how money actually works.
And here’s the crucial bit: they treat inheritance as a nice-to-have, not a financial strategy. You can’t control when it comes, how much it is, or who else might need support."
If your values include supporting charities that tackle the issues you care about, and or the community in which you've thrived, then after taking care of your family, including a bequest in your Will to create a philanthropic endowment that gives back forever is a wise and effective strategy. A brazen tagger who scrawled on a Hamilton car park’s walls in broad daylight was trapped with nowhere to go when police turned up.
The tagger vandalised the walls in full view of an office block full of people - including staff at the Waikato Times.

Will the use of AI to complete daily tasks, particularly school work, impact cognitive abilities and creativity?
Recent work out of a MIT Media Lab suggests that people who used ChatGPT have lower brain engagement than those who did not when writing their essays. While the MIT Media Lab work has driven headlines recently, others have been quick to remind us that the fear of technology is nothing new.
We want to know: Is AI an addition to the technological toolbox, or should we be having bigger conversations about the impact of AI technology?

Be a part of this year's Annual Extravaganza in the Park Christmas Market on Saturday 6th Dec 2025 at Elliott Park Nawton Hamilton.
🎪If your aged 5-13years get creative and be a part of our Kids Market. Stalls are to be run by the kids and not the adults. Adults are there to supervise in the background.
🎪 Visitors will experience a lively marketplace where children showcase and sell their own handmade products. Each child is responsible for setting up their stall, displaying their goods, handling cash or digital payments, and interacting with customers.
🎪Parents and the local community play a supportive role, coming along to shop and cheer on our young stallholders. The market is not just an event—it’s a movement that helps shape the next generation of our market entrepreneurs.
For expression of interest please email craftextravaganzanz@gmail.com before Sat 19th July and state what you would be interested in doing.
We would love some interactive stalls, games where kids can participate at your stall. Get your thinking caps on and we look forward to hearing from you. Stalls will be $20 3x3 site, limited spaces available.
