Hamilton City Council and Waikato District Council joined forces to operate a North Waikato Combined Emergency Operations Centre.
Staffers are already helping with community welfare needs, identifying at-risk people, and working with government agencies and local support agencies, a statement said.
"The creation of these combined centres is one way we can fine-tune our response to ensure that most resources can be directed to those who are vulnerable and in need, as efficiently as possible," said Merv Balloch, one of four shift controllers.
"Between the two councils we are sharing operations, logistics, communication, intelligence and planning functions, as well as setting up separate welfare teams for each Council area ... There's a lot to be done, but the combined approach is another step on the way to getting through this difficult time."

It's spread by droplets, which means you're most likely to catch it by touching something with a droplet on it (and then touching your face). If you choose to wear a mask or gloves, you still need to wash your hands carefully and often."
The people who need protective equipment are those working with confirmed and suspected cases of COVID-19, the ministry said. You can find information on protective gear, including how and when to use it, on health.govt.nz/covid-19 |the Ministry of Health website|.

Cover with water so that it is 1” above eggs. ...
Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
Check eggs for desired color.
When ready, carefully remove eggs.
Another way is to spread quite a bit of flour in a dish, then press an egg into the flour to make several molds. Make marshmallow according to directions on Google or recipe book, & pour into each flour mold. When set, join each half 'egg' with another, using jam or icing. Dust off egg. Return flour to its container - it's not harmed by use.

The call comes after five people were arrested after a recent neighbourhood brawl in Hamilton street which involved a large group of people, with one showing symptoms of coronavirus.
A knife, shovel, hockey stick and baseball bat were reported to have been used in the fight.
From the team at Redlid Garden Bins & Bags we will not be collecting bins or garden bags during the level 4 lock down. At this stage we have been informed that we are not an essential service and all green waste sites have been closed as well. Take care and be safe.
