High-paying mining jobs will bring more Kiwis home, minister says
Expanding gold mining north of Waihī is the kind of project that could help reverse the flow of workers heading overseas, Resources Minister Shane Jones says.
“They’re not going to come back from Australia to work in some community garden at Kennedy Bay,” Jones told the Waikato Times, adding that he and NZ First leader Winston Peters had long campaigned for growth in the extractive sector.
