Uni and PHOs working on plan to increase clinical placement options
The University of Waikato has taken steps to again help fill the gaps of the struggling health workforce by joining forces with local primary health organisations to help each other train more medics.
While the university awaits a government decision on creating the country’s third medical school, they’ve signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with three Waikato-based Primary Health Organisations (PHOs).

One size fits all rates cap model ‘unworkable’, says Waipā DC
Waipā District Council says the government’s “one size fits all” proposal to cap rate rises could disproportionately harm fast-growing councils such as Waipā.
On Wednesday, Strategic Planning and Policy committee members debated the council’s submission on the proposed rates cap model.
