Poll: What do you reckon? Are lots of young people heading overseas?

Libby Reporter from Waikato Local

Alex Hutt went from struggling on the dole in New Zealand to making over $100,000 a year in a job across the ditch.

Although the 25-year-old misses New Zealand, he won’t be giving up his Aussie lifestyle any time soon and he’s not alone - Statistics from Infometrics show a steady increase, beginning after the Covid-19 lockdowns, in young people leaving New Zealand either permanently or for an extended period.

What do you reckon? Are lots of young people heading overseas?

Poll: Should we ditch daylight saving? 🕰️

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

First introduced in New Zealand in 1927 with the passing of the Summer Time Act, it's what we know as 'Daylight Saving' and this year it ends on the first Sunday in April.

While we do get to sleep in this time around, some people would like to scrap the clock tinkering for good.

And why? Some evidence suggests the time changes are bad for our health as they mess with sleep patterns leading to short-term fatigue and affecting mood. Meanwhile the hour change is frustrating for farmers and a nightmare for getting the littlies to sleep. But what's your take?

New city road a key moment for Hamilton’s Peacocke development

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

A $600-million project to turn greenfield land into housing for New Zealand’s fastest-growing city is about to hit a major milestone.

The Peacocke development is Hamilton City Council’s (HCC) largest-ever infrastructure project, designed to transform 720 hectares of semi-rural land in the city's south into a new urban community for up to 20,000 residents, providing 8000 new homes.
