Hamilton Book Month is on throughout August and we are running five workshops. There's Scriptwriting 7 August (Alex Lodge), Writing Children’s Fiction 14 August (Melinda Szymanik Children's Author), Speculative Fiction 21 August (Gary Nelson), Memoir Writing 24 August (Witi Ihimaera) and Poetry Writing 28 August (Elizabeth Kirkby-McLeod). Each three-hour workshop with morning or afternoon tea is led by an experienced presenter and specialist in the genre and will provide you with valuable information and hands-on writing tasks. Changing the conversation around dementia
Reducing stigma starts with the words we use, and shifting the way we talk about dementia is a powerful step forward. This World Alzheimer’s Month, Ryman is highlighting the importance of reducing the discrimination caused by stigma surrounding people living with dementia.
Caroline Bartle, Ryman’s Dementia Care and Innovations Lead, says that using appropriate language when referring to people with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia can foster a more inclusive society. This not only benefits those experiencing cognitive decline but also their families and the wider community.

The new time-limited scheme is designed to de-risk developments, making finance easier to obtain for developers to start building. Developers often have to pre-sell a proportion of dwellings in any development in order to secure finance, which has become much more difficult in the current economic downturn.
