The latest feature to take the eye of this council is Hinemoa Park. Which has a reserve status, but the council wants to do away with this status so that "Social Service buildings" can be built there! This, in a city where the South end of its inner city, is almost desolate, and full of buildings lying empty. The Central Library has forms for submission.....and may have them online.
Please tell our Council...….HANDS OFF!!!!

Hi neighbours - thousands of school kids will get a free lunch at school, Jacinda Ardern has announced.

Ardern says "children themselves told us during the consultation on the strategy that going to school hungry was a barrier to their learning."

Education spokeswoman Nikki Kaye says the Government hasn't considered that most schools don't have infrastructure for large scale food preparation and storage. She says "this would cost hundreds of millions and take away the autonomy of parents to provide lunch for their children".

What are your thoughts? Do you think this is a fantastic or flawed idea? Would you prefer that schools prepared your child's lunch?

Morning everyone,

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced today that by 2022 all schools and kura will be required to teach NZ's history.

It follows Time To Tell Our Story, a Waikato Times campaign to make teaching our history compulsory in schools.

First arrivals; first encounters and early colonial history; the Treaty of Waitangi and its history; colonisation of, and immigration to, Aotearoa; the New Zealand Wars; the evolving national identity of New Zealand in the late 19th and early 20th centuries; and the country's role in the Pacific are all expected to be covered.

What do you think of the decision? Read more here

Please put NFP next to your comment if you do not want it used in any coverage of the announcement.
