Bye Bye Birdie - only 3 shows to go
The WHS and Community production of the 1950's 'Bye Bye Birdie' has only three more performance to run. This musical is set in 1958 and was inspired by the phenomenon of popular singer Elvis Presley and his draft into the Army in 1957. The rock star in this musical is "Conrad Birdie” who is the biggest thing to top the charts.
Women love Conrad, men want to be like him and teenage girls around the country scream with glee at the mere mention of his name. But when the United States Army drafts Birdie, Manager Albert Peterson sees his meal ticket preparing to fly the coop. Desperate for a publicity stunt big enough to help them survive Birdie’s departure, Albert hatch’s a plan to save his famous stars career, and to shore up his own bank account.
This is a great show with lots of great music and performances – and an excellent nights entertainment.
Performances Friday 21st at 7 pm, Saturday 1pm and Saturday 22nd at 7pm. Concession prices for families, seniors, students and children.
Poll: Should we ditch daylight saving? 🕰️
First introduced in New Zealand in 1927 with the passing of the Summer Time Act, it's what we know as 'Daylight Saving' and this year it ends on the first Sunday in April.
While we do get to sleep in this time around, some people would like to scrap the clock tinkering for good.
And why? Some evidence suggests the time changes are bad for our health as they mess with sleep patterns leading to short-term fatigue and affecting mood. Meanwhile the hour change is frustrating for farmers and a nightmare for getting the littlies to sleep. But what's your take?
-
41.1% Yes - get rid of the clock changes
-
57.4% No, I enjoy it
-
1.5% Other - I'll share below
