Poll: Should Dunedin's George St be one-way?

Nicole Reporter from Dunedin News

Plans to convert Dunedin's George St into a one-way road were passed by the Dunedin City Council this week.

Mayor Aaron Hawkins says a one-way street provided better safety and public amenity outcomes, and was likely to attract more central government funding.

But councillor Lee Vandervis dubbed it “pedestrianisation in drag” and compared it to Christchurch’s Cathedral Square, which became a “a glue sniffers’ assembly place” when it closed to traffic.

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
