First full body scanners for Kiwi domestic travellers open at Dunedin Airport
Passengers flying from Dunedin do not need to worry about their privacy after the country's first body scanners for domestic flights opened at the southern airport, authorities say.
Advanced imaging technology – commonly known as body scanners – opened in Dunedin for domestic jet services on Monday afternoon.
Dunedin is the first place to launch the technology for domestic passengers, Aviation Security general manager operations Karen Urwin says.
"We cannot see any actual outline of the human body, we can't see anything that is personal," she says.
