Police crime news
A Dunedin man is to appear in court after allegedly stealing fuel from a farmer's fuel tank.
The incident unfolded at Momona, near the city's airport on Friday afternoon, Acting inspector Craig Dinnissen said.
The farmer noticed a ute on his property, and then later confronted the man who was filling the vehicle's fuel tank.
The man had also taken some of the farmer's tools.
The 26-year-old man was charged with burglary.
Police were also investigating the theft of plumber's tools from a vehicle parked on Willis St.
The passenger side window was smashed to gain access, Dinnissen said.
It was unclear whether the theft was opportunistic or the work of mobile offenders.
