A gender pay victory or financial madness - debate over council chief executive salary
The Dunedin City Council voted behind closed doors to increase its chief executive's salary by nearly $60,000, putting it closer in line with her male counterparts.
The move increased Dr Sue Bidrose's annual salary to $444,000 – a 14.7 per cent jump.
The increase, which was made public this week, was slammed by the Taxpayers' Union as a "stuff you" to local ratepayers.
But mayor Dave Cull said Bidrose had been earning below market value and her pay rise sent a strong message about addressing the gender pay gap.
Are you keeping it old school?
We know that things come back around, look at vinyl records!
Do you still use any old-school technology (like landlines or VHS tapes) at home?

Have you got a great recipe for feijoas?

Favourite holiday finds
Hi there,
We're putting together an article on Kiwis' favourite holiday finds, and would love to hear about any great new places you discovered on your holidays and are happy to share.
It could be a beach you'd never been to before, a walking track you'd never tried, a town that pleasantly surprised you or a particularly good cafe, restaurant or bar. Please feel free to comment here or to message me directly. Please put 'NFP' in your comment or message if you do not want your name or suggestion published.
Thank you very much in advance.
