On March 31, 2023, after a short illness, at Christchurch Hospital, aged 86 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Kevin; dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Karen and Murray Smith, Leonie and Craig Laing, the late Craig, and Lisa and Alex Giesen. Loved daughter of the late Gladys and the late Bert Steele, and sister of the late Leone and the late Lois Findlay. Adored grandma of Danielle; Aaron, Nick and Claire, Hamish; Olivia and John, Annabelle and Kiriana, Sebastian, and Lotte. Adored great-grandma of Oscar, Archie; Freya, Greta, and Angus. Special friend and cherished aunty of Catherine Findlay, and great-aunty of Abby and Ross Penney, and James Tranter. Loved and respected sister-in-law, and aunty. On Wednesday, March 29, 2023, unexpectedly but peacefully at Hospice Marlborough, Blenheim, aged 87 years. Dearly loved wife of the late James (Paddy), much loved Mum and Mum-in-law of Elizabeth and Alastair Hawthorne, Vincent Herbert Nickolls (deceased), Robert (Bob), Stephen (Scooter) and Sharon, treasured Grandma of Leigh, Scott, Ben, Nicole, Korey, Aarron, Ryan, Michael, and all their families. COX, Andrew Grantham

With great sadness Andrew Cox’s sons announce the sudden and unexpected loss of their father. Andrew was doing what he loved, riding his bike on a trip towards Levin when he died suddenly. He was so proud of sharing with us his active membership of the St John’s Parish Community & the Wellington Community Choir and we will keep his positive attitude with us in our loving memories. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Wellington Free Ambulance Service. To celebrate his life with us, there will be a memorial service for him held at St John’s in the City on the corner of Willis and Dixon Streets, 170 Willis Street, Te Aro, Wellington, on 11th April at 1.00pm

On 24 March 2023, Murray slipped into the presence of the Lord he loved so much, in Isahaya Japan, supported by his loving wife Etsuko and son Joshua. Aged 61. Dearly loved son of Mervyn & Merle, much loved brother and brother-in-law of Vivienne and Thomas, Brenda and David, loved Uncle to Zach, Oskar, Charlotte and Alex. Peacefully passed away on the evening of March 24, 2023, at The Wood Rest Home, Nelson. Bertie was 94. A light-hearted, friendly soul with a great sense of humour, a love of adventure, music, the outdoors and animals, his was a life well lived. It is with sadness that we share the passing of our vibrant, creative, witty, loving, kind, thoughtful, passionate, and zany Catharine on March 13, 2023, at the age of 69. Her loving husband, Guy, and children Toshi, Morgana, Erin and Kinley, will greatly miss her zest for life and tender loving care. Catharine has been a prominent figure in the Nelson Arts community and served as a NMIT visual arts academic for over 3 decades. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we the Toro whanau announce the sudden passing of a much loved wife, daughter, sister, sister-in-law and aunty, aged 65. Much loved and devoted wife and best friend for 35 years of Allan Ogilvy (Tapanui, West Otago), dearly loved daughter of the late Jean and John (Amo) Toro (Normanby), loved sister of Wesley (Sydney), Sharleen (Maria) (Chch), the late Francis, Martin and Peter; Colin (Porirua), Tania (Hamilton), and Karen (Hawera). Loved sister-in-law of the late Helen (Sydney), Russell (Chch), Camellia (Perth, WA), Rochelle (Porirua), and Karen (Gisborne). Much loved aunty of all her nephews and nieces, and their families, also loved friend of Sascha and Verna Ogilvy (Sydney). A service has been held, followed by private cremation.
