A man understood to have a gunshot wound to the head has been rushed to Auckland City Hospital.
A St John spokeswoman said the man was treated at Waipu Medical Centre in Northland before being taken by helicopter to hospital.

A St John spokeswoman said the man was treated at Waipu Medical Centre in Northland before being taken by helicopter to hospital.
The spokeswoman couldn't confirm the exact nature of the man's injuries but said he was in a moderate condition.
Inspector Al Symonds says it does not appear to be a criminal occurrence and police are not looking for anyone in regards to the incident.
