Mandeville Village
Mid last year the council heard from the developer that they could develop the Mandeville Village without need of the contentious Tram Road accesses. As the resource consent was granted non-binding it was agreed the developer could legally proceed and so granted them a building consent - with access via the Mandeville Road entrance.
Towards the end of the year something changed - and an 80kph zone for Tram Road was recommended and approved and the developer applied for a new Tram Road accesses resource consent (with a plan that didn’t comply with the District Plan - to which both parties had previously agreed).
What happened to cause everyone involved to suddenly change their mind back again?

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
59.3% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
25.4% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
15.3% ... It is complicated
