'Thank you for everything': Community bids farewell to beloved supermarket stalwart

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from The Press

Part counsellor, part comedian and part friend, Angela Crosbie has been a steady ship on some of Christchurch's darkest days.

So when a social media post declared Angela, the “lovely lady” from New World Bishopdale, has her last day at the Christchurch supermarket on Friday, an outpouring of sadness and gratitude followed.

“Oh no,” one woman responded. “She will be sorely missed,” another said, “I must buy her a block of chocolate to say a hearty thanks for being the absolute salt of the earth.”

Are you a regular at New World Bishopdale and know Angela? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Reporter Nadine Roberts' full story on Angela can be found on The Press' new masthead site, here.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
