The car park, which has 200 spaces for patients and visitors and up to 150 for staff, is sealed, lit and offers covered shelters for those waiting for a shuttle to Christchurch Hospital.
Staveley housewife Judy Vaughan, 63, used the shuttle to get to her hospital appointment on Monday.
She said the Deans Ave site was easy to find and the shuttle was a "good service", which she would recommend to friends.
What are your thoughts on the new service?

The deal will likely net Christchurch $40 million to help patch up its creaking water infrastructure. A positive step for the garden city?

Do you know someone sharing the veggies they've grown with their neighbours? Perhaps locals restoring a park in the area to bring back birds, or a group of neighbours doing a great job in their community garden. Nominate them today, and tell us why they deserve to be this year's Ryman Healthcare Gardener of the Year.

At time of writing I have just spent 15 days with the most caring team of professionals I’ve ever experienced. Christchurch Hospital’s Cardiology Dept.
The Surgical team really are incredible. Watching then open up both groin arteries and feed a new valve up into my heart (Yes awake but well Anaesthetised ) was to experience a very special team of ‘Professionals’.
The care on the Ward was superb no matter what their duties. Just so many caring people I’m reluctant to single anyone out for concern I degrade another.
I would love to waffle about all those special moments with different individuals but the heading says how I feel. The access and absence of PARKING for everyone – Staff, Patients, their family and friends is a GROSS OUTRAGEOUS INSULT, to all involved. All of us Ratepayers. The whole of Canterbury.
To my experience this has been wrong for 33 years. City Councils have come and gone passing the buck and stonewalling. It is their responsibility. They issue the building permits.
I believe it is TOO LATE for a quick fix and more political/bureaucratic game playing Open up that corner of Hagley Park opposite the Maain Entrance as ‘Temporary Parking’ then the CCC have the incentive to act in a timely, competent and professional manner to serve the community - who pay their salaries.
Were I 30 years younger (I’m 92) I’d quietly go down there and lift those posts and handrails by the traffic liights and erect a large sign ‘Free Hospital Parking (Temporary)’.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said there were promising signs that the Government was getting on top of the virus, but a short extension was recommended by director-general of health Ashley Bloomfield.
On Sunday night Auckland would move down to level 2. The rest of the country would stay at level 2.
Ardern said the rest of the country needed to stay at an elevated alert level to mitigate the risk of cases leaving Auckland when interregional travel resumed. Click here to read more.

As well as fibre, there’s other technologies around like cellular-based services sold as broadband (called fixed wireless) and some homes are still on old copper broadband (called ADSL and VDSL).The Commerce Commission publishes a quarterly broadband comparison report called “Measuring Broadband New Zealand” to help consumers make informed decisions.
The latest report highlights the differences in performance in average download speeds on different technologies. On a 100Mbps (megabits per second - speed) fibre plan, you get an average speed of 99Mbps – so what you would expect and pay for. On a top end fibre plan the average speed jumps to over 708Mbps. Other technologies are much slower – ADSL (9Mbps), fixed wireless (26Mbps) and VDSL (43Mbps).
Speed is the key to good broadband performance and the report highlights this. With fibre, you can successfully stream ultra-high definition video nearly all the time (99%). On VDSL this drops by about 10%, on fixed wireless this will only work two-thirds of the time and one tenth of the time on ADSL. Fixed wireless, ADSL and VDSL can also be prone to performance drops when lots of people are using their broadband service at the same time.Sometimes bad weather can be a factor for cellular-based services. Fibre does not suffer these issues.
Visit our website to find out if fibre is available at your place.
All the best, from your local Enable Fibre team.
