Physical distancing

Jackie from South New Brighton

Could I please ask people to be a bit more aware of those that are trying to keep that physical distance away from others, esp when they are in the 'at risk' category? One of the few things I can do is walk my dog, and last night I took her to the beach at South New Brighton about 6.30 pm. As I got to the beach end of the narrow pathway, a man stood, talking to his young son, blocking the way. I stopped but they didn't move, so I had to walk over the dunes, with my shaky balance, while keeping a rein on my excited dog. Please be aware, people!

We are sure that by now you are all aware of the current 'lock down' of the nation due to the global pandemic, COVID-19.
What this means for hospitality businesses such as ours, is we are closed until further notice.
Hopefully after these next 4 weeks, our country will be out of this Level 4 danger zone, and soon after that hospitality businesses like ours will be able to re-open, and serve our communities.
We hope we can see you all in the near future, be sure to check our facebook page for any re-opening specials and new menu items.
Stay home, stay safe, stay healthy.

Dear concerned citizen,

We must now all stay home. Because that’s how we’ll stop the virus.

Level 4 measures will likely be in place for a number of weeks.

Don’t worry. During that time you will still be able to access all the essentials you need, including medicine, food, and other home supplies.

ALL THE TIME, NO EXCEPTIONS
It’s incredibly important that we all follow the Level 4 plan, all the time. No exceptions. Because doing so will save lives.

A CHALLENGE FOR EVERYONE
We realise these are big changes. But these are challenging times.
If we don't all stay home, the whole country will need Level 4 restrictions for longer.

SUPPORT OUR EMERGENCY SERVICE PEOPLE
We owe it to the essential services. Our nurses, doctors and everyone else on the frontline. They’re working tirelessly to save lives. We should all do everything in our power to help them do this.
Thank you to each and every person, for doing their bit.

While you’re staying at home:

STAY CONNECTED
• Don’t let physical distance stop you staying connected. Keep in touch with people using video calls, phone calls, chat and texting.
• If you know people who are living alone, vulnerable, or separated from their loved ones, regularly check-in with them.

STAY WELL
• Continue to practice good hygiene – wash your hands with soap. Then dry.
• Cough or sneeze into your elbow.
• Regularly clean surfaces in your home with disinfectant.
• Keep up regular physical exercise, and get some fresh air when possible. It’s good so long as this is solitary, or only with those you live with.

REACH OUT
If you need advice, support or help, try reaching out to friends, family, whānau or workmates.

WE'RE UPDATING INFORMATION CONSTANTLY
For all the latest advice, including answers to your health and financial questions, go to Covid19.govt.nz.

And remember: what you do now, will help protect all of us.

I had a good look at the tree yesterday and the other woman with the one I spoke to had climbed through the tree and has broken several branches. I have been pruning that Apple tree for the last few years and it really upsets me that outsiders comes into our hood and not only steals but damages the tree.

Just been across the road when I saw a woman carrying a large banana box of apples from one of the Apple tree's that the locals use. I asked if she was collecting for a Charity she said she was collecting for her Community in Mount Pleasant. I explained the locals get fruit from that particular apple tree and only take a small amount. That this is an area of Housing commission/low income/beneficiaries area and what they are doing amounts to stealing from the "Poor" for the "Rich" . We all need to share and be kind to others especially in these times.

The Chinese now understand the behaviour of the Covid-19 virus, thanks to autopsies that they have carried out.

This virus is characterized by obstructing respiratory pathways with thick mucus that solidifies and blocks the airways and lungs.

So they have discovered that in order to be able to apply a medicine, you have to open and unblock these airways so that the treatment can be used to take effect.

However, all of this takes a number of days.

Their recommendations for what you can do to safeguard yourselves are:

1. Drink lots of hot liquids – coffee, soups, teas, warm water.
☕️ 🍵 🍲
In addition,
•take a sip of warm water every 20 minutes
because this keeps your mouth moist and washes any of the virus that entered your mouth into your stomach with the gastric juices or neutralize it before it can get to the lungs.
💪🏻

2. Gargle with an antiseptic with warm water like
•vinegar or salt or lemon everyday, if possible.
🍋
3. The virus attaches itself to hair and clothes.

Any detergent or soap kills it but you must take a bath or shower when you get in from the street.
🚿
Avoid sitting down anyway and go straight to the bathroom or shower.

If you cannot wash your clothes daily, hang them in direct sunlight which also neutralizes the virus.
☀️
4. Wash metallic surfaces very carefully because the virus can remain viable on these for up to 9 days.
🗓

Take note and be vigilant about touching handrails and door handles, etc.

I guess within your own house as well you can make sure that you are keeping those clean and wiping them down regularly.
🛑 🚬
5. Don’t smoke.

6. Wash your hands every 20 minutes using any soap that foams. Do this for 20 seconds and wash your hands thoroughly.
🧼 👍🏻

7. Eat fruits and vegetables.
🍎 🍅
Try to elevate your
•Zinc levels, not just your Vitamin C levels.
::
8. Animals do not spread the virus to people. ⭕️🐒⭕️ 🦇

This is person-to-person transmission.

9. Try to avoid getting the common flu. 😷
I guess because this just already weakens your system and try to avoid eating and drinking cold things.

10. If you feel any discomfort in your throat or sore throat coming on, attack it immediately using the above methods.

The virus enters the system this way and remains for 3 or 4 days within the throat before it passes into the lungs.

Let's all stay safe, take precautions and use common sense. Xoxo
