Sport Canterbury fail to deliver in communication, score an own goal
So the Annual facebook awards continue WORST COMPANY OF 2017 would have to go to Sport Canterbury. They voted in support of Denton Park as the new location for the Council Offices/Library and Pool Complex. This was done with no consulation with the local sporting groups who use the facility now to see the impact and they ignored the wishes of Mr Denton in supporting Denton Park as Mr Denton gifted the land for the use of outdoor recreation use and to keep the green effect (a man before his time !!! with prescreption green !!). Sport Canterbury have been requested on many occassions for meetings on this issue to explain why ?? from CEO down - some calls/emails have not even been answered back and others fogged off. As an organisation that receives council and govt funding its obvious the all almight $$$$ speaks higher than the wishes of the Hornby Community - the land was gifted also to the Hornby people a point that should be noted !!!
And then wait for it their PR reply which ignores my questions asked...
Thank you Marc for sharing your concern. Following the review of site options for location of the South West pool and library and a process of consultation, the recommendation to the Christchurch City Council to approve Denton Park as the preferred location for the facility was made by the Halswell Hornby Riccarton Community Board. The board decided against recommending Kyle Park because of the cost of remediating the ground. This would have significantly reduced the budget available for the actual build, meaning only a smaller facility could have been built. The Denton Park location, on the other hand, did not require land remediation. This, along with the understanding that the existing sports ground users at Denton Park would be accommodated for lost capacity should the community facility be built there, on balance made Denton Park the best option of the preferred sites that had been put forward.
Poll: If we want to reduce speeding, what do you think actually changes driver behaviour? π»π¨π
In the Post's article on speeding penalties, the question is asked whether speeding fines are truly about road safety, or are they just a way to boost revenue for the Crown?
What do you think? Should speeding motorists receive speeding fines or demerit points?
-
31.7% The sting of a fine (Money talks!)
-
68.3% The threat of demerit points (Nobody wants to lose their license!)

How much does it cost to join AEA?
There are no dues or fees for joining AEA or attending AEA meetings. We are self-supporting through our own voluntary contributions. At some point during each meeting we pass the basket to help cover expenses, such as the cost of rent and literature. Members are not obliged to contribute, but we usually do so to the extent we are able.
