For the month of October, we want to see how you tackle emergency preparedness. From getting first aid training and stocking up on essentials to putting together a grab n’ go bag or working with your neighbours to create a neighbourhood resillience plan, a little bit of planning goes a long way to make sure you and your community can get through any situation. Joining or setting up a Neighbourhood Support group is a great way to keep in touch and work together to reach out, look out and help out one another no matter what life may bring.
Don’t forget! This month also coincides with New Zealand’s national earthquake drill and tsunami hikoi, ShakeOut, which will be taking place on Thursday, October 28th at 9:30am.
Let us know how you’re getting prepared this month by tagging us in your social media posts or emailing us your photos, videos, or experiences to: info@neighbourhoodsupport.co.nz

An ambitious campaign has been launched to get 90 per cent of eligible Cantabrians jabbed by Labour Weekend – in less than four weeks time.
Businesses have thrown their weight behind the plan, which aims to make Canterbury the most Covid-19 protected region in the country.
Among those backing the campaign is Roger Gray, chief executive of Lyttelton Port Company (LPC), who said Cantabrians should “roll-up their sleeves and get vaccinated”.

Christchurch Golf Club has already started felling the trees, mostly pine and macrocarpa, at its course in Shirley after consulting arborists and its course committee. General manager Mike Hadley acknowledged the removal was a sensitive issue – some club members lobbied to retain them – but said the club wanted to restore the course to its links origins.
Links courses tend to be on or near a coast and feature dunes, undulating greens and few, if any, trees.
Mark Belton, managing director of Permanent Forests NZ Ltd, which specialises in growing forests for carbon sequestration and conservation, said the club could have consulted nearby residents about the tree removal.
“Urban planning and urban forests in National Park Christchurch needs to be carefully considered to get the right trees in the right places to create habitats for birds but that don't cause issues for neighbourhoods."

If yes to any of these questions, then please see our buyers this week. We will buy single items or complete collections.
The recent lockdown has seen many of us take the time to sort items we no longer require or simply want to turn into cash.
We are currently very short of stock and keen to buy any of these or similar items.
Please see us at any of the multiple venues in the Canterbury area.
Buying now at a venue near you deal with the specialists.
