End in sight for Riccarton Rd roadworks
The project to upgrade the road between Harakeke and Matipo streets started in January 2019 and was expected to take until the end of 2020, but contractor Fulton Hogan has told the city council the work will be finished in April.
The pipe work has been finished and now the road is being rebuilt to accommodate a tree-planted median between Clarence and Matipo streets. Road markings will also give buses priority over cars, the deteriorating road will be resurfaced, and parking will be removed to allow for the new road layout.
