The COVID-19 crisis has impacted the council's finances and now is the opportunity for you to give feedback on the council's new draft budget for 2020-21.

Of particular interest is the council's consideration of a one-off boost of 5 per cent ($360,000) to the Strengthening Communities Fund in 2020/21 to acknowledge the challenges faced by community organisations as a result of the COVID-19 crisis and Level 4 lockdown.

If you value your community organisations, then please let the council know! 👍

Turns out it's not quite as simple as a trip to the hardware store to burn a hole in your credit card. If you're thinking of putting something up on your property, check in here first:

Christchurch Methodist Mission has developed a 'Manage Your Money' programme as an additional way of offering its financial mentoring service to the community.

The 'Manage Your Money' sessions are designed to give people choices about money topics, number of sessions they wish to do, and the option to participate with whanau or friends.

The sessions are free, there is no minimum number and CMM can offer them in people’s homes or at its new office in Durham St (they were previously at Matsons Avenue, Papanui).
