U3A Health and Wellness Groups

John Veitch from Open Future Health

I attended a conference about Research into Successful Ageing, in Dunedin recently. The conference focused on the difficulty in doing health research in NZ. But there were successes. In particular the Steady As You Go programme now being promoted across NZ by Age Concern. There are 30+ groups in Christchurch. U3A is an organisation with strong membership growth, that could incorporate Steady as You Go groups into their activities. There is also enormous potential for community groups to engage in health education. This is very exciting, because so much has changed and most doctors, and the great majority of the public, are completely unaware of the new science, driving a revolution of new dietary ideas, and new exercise proposals. Follow the link and EXPLORE, for yourself.
