Merry Christmas from the Fendalton Waimairi Harewood Community Board!
Kia ora Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood!
What a fantastic year it’s been out here in our ‘hood!
We at the Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board and Council want to thank you all for another amazing year with our one-of-a-kind community!
Over the year we’ve had some fantastic projects and events, including the opening of the upgraded Jellie Park outdoor pools and the opening of the Merivale Corner Community Centre.
We are so grateful for all of your support in the community, and we cannot wait to see what 2019 brings for southwest Christchurch.
Meri Kirihimete and happy holidays!
From the Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board and the Christchurch City Council

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.
Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.
For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.
Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?
We hope this brings a smile!
Building job
I would like a pantry made in the gap the old hot water tank used to be. This involves a wall being taken out but it isn't load bearing.
Also a shelter outside over the bin area needs replacing.
I have tried Builders Crack and of the 3 only one turned up and I want more estimates.
Any recommendations of builders or handyman who are happy to at least have a look.
