Planning an outdoor burn? Check the rules before you light up:

▶️Call the FENZ comms centre on 0800 336 922 to let them know you’re having a controlled burn
▶️To request a controlled burn sign to borrow, contact the Kaikōura Volunteer Fire Brigade bit.ly... or email CanterburyCRR@fireandemergency.nz
▶️ Ensure your fire is completely extinguished at the end. It's not enough to just assume it's out. You need to be checking by raking or spreading out the ashes and dousing with water
