Tsunami Siren Testing

Gareth from Burwood

Just a friendly reminder that tsunami siren testing will be conducted by Christchurch CDEM this Sunday 1 April 2018 at 11am. Could you please take note and distribute to your networks as necessary.

The tsunami sirens installed along Christchurch’s coastline from Brooklands to Taylors Mistake will be tested as part of a biannual testing exercise to coincide with daylight savings.

The sirens will sound for up to three minutes and can usually be heard a few blocks from the coastline.

If you live near the coast, it’s a good time to check whether you are in a tsunami evacuation zone and to work out a plan with your family.

To find more information about the different tsunami evacuation zones and to learn what to do, click here or the link below:

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
