One woman at Vinnies for a meal buses in from Cambridge each day and sifts through the CBD’s rubbish bins for cast-off aluminium cans.
For every kilogram she collects, Te Rapa scrap dealer Sims Metal pays her $1.40 - less than the price of a single can of Coke.

There is no sign language for Fig, and I am a deaf linguist who uses similar India Sign Language (note they use two hands). I borrowed sign language on loan and used one-hand signs. Here are two photos, but fortunately, I could not download the video here. In the first photo, use your fingers and thumbs close together and move upward in the shape of a tip. In the second photo, open your hand like a flower opening. Then, the sign moves upward as a tip, then downward by turning the hand upside down and opening it like a flower. I hope this makes sense for you to learn. Update I made two video clips under YouTube.

Waipā District Council teams began removing the fish last week, recovering 90 in just two days. Since then, another 110 have been pulled from the centre of the lake, prompting concerns over water quality and the potential impact on local wildlife.
Have you seen any dead fish at the lake? Tell us about it in the comments (adding NFP if you don't want your words used in print).

This time, we’ve looked at the nutrient we should be focusing on as we age (and no, it’s not the carbs v fat debate!) plus some luxury rail travel - with gourmet food.
We also feature a fabulous 80s band, by which we mean the youngest member is 80!
