I get that we are all inconvenienced in some way by the lvl 4 lockdown as unfortunately we are not all classed as essential workers and i want to say a big thank you for all of them ie Doctors and nurses, couriers, postal staff, supermarket staff, truckies and most importantly our emergency service workers who are currently still working out in the community and having to put themselves at risk everyday to keep the country functioning to ensure we still get our food and essential items and that everyone is kept healthy, and yet currently we have no idea as to how much longer it will go on for as our cases are still climbing and the government have said they doubt the numbers have even reached there peak yet. I am not surprised at all considering the high number of close contacts that have been at the locations of interest ie Schools Avondale college, De la salle college, Aut campus and University of Auckland to name a few there are thousands of students at all of these places so I'm surprised we have not already hit 1000 Tbh. And yes it's worrying that we are running low on the amount of Vaccines we have available and i agree that the elderly should of all been done by now considering the drastic consequences that happen if a case ever gets into a rest home as the residents that live there have nowhere to go that is safe to escape the possible spread of it. But i also agree our kids need to be vaccinated as well as they are the ones more prone to picking up a community infection it appears. Under level one all kids want to do is hang out with there mates and they don't often stop to think of the possible risk of transmission then they pick up the virus and bring it home to friends and family. That's why unfortunately it spreads through the pacific community as they are bigger families that are forced to live in smaller homes and close proximity to each other. But i also believe that Jacinda has done the right thing with putting us into lvl4 as soon as Delta was discovered in NZ. We fought covid last year after that lockdown so we can do it again so give Jacinda a chance they may be slow to get things done but they got results last time and can do it again they are trying to beat this and they can't do it alone. I highly doubt Judith and co could do any better. We all need to play our part and beat this as a nation no individual can do it on there own. So let's ride out this lockdown and check on your friends and family regularly and let's help each other as much as we physically can within our bubbles. We can do this NZ.

Stuck at home in lockdown and dreaming of the day when you can enjoy a meal out again?

Well Aucklanders are being asked to share their food stories and nominate the region’s best dishes.

The Iconic Eats Auckland list launched last year with nominations ranging from dishes found at fine dining establishments to cafes, food trucks, markets and hole-in-the-wall offerings.

Winners ranged from traditional dishes to those representing the ethnic diversity of the region.

Auckland Unlimited spokesperson Annie Dundas said Iconic Eats is the “ultimate culinary bucket list” of dishes that can only be enjoyed in Auckland.

“What makes this list unique is the amazing stories submitted with each dish that showcases the diversity of Auckland’s food scene – the talented people, the places, the cultures, the experiences, the flavours,” she said.

One person who submits a story will be declared the winner of Iconic Auckland Eats 2021 and enjoy vouchers for all 100 winning eats.

Nominations are now open and stories can be submitted at www.iconiceats.co.nz... up to 31 August 2021.

Dear neighbours,

We're looking for lockdown gardening ideas! With New Zealanders stuck at home everyone is keen to get into their gardens, but they can't get to the shops to buy plants and seeds. So we want to hear from you some suggestions for crops you can start or sow from what you have on hand or useful gardening hacks using just what you have at home already without going to the shops.

It doesn't have to be a big idea - just something like growing spring onions from the base or sprouting avocado seeds to make a houseplant. Send your tips and ideas to mailbox@nzgardener.co.nz and we'll publish the best ideas in NZ Gardener.

Make sure you include your full name and address - only your name and the region you live in will be published but if we use your tip we will send you a free copy of the magazine.

🔹The next big deliveries of the Pfizer vaccines are due in October.
🔹All the people (including myself and my man) who have had their appointments postponed or cancelled - WTH???
🔹So many elderly people, health compromised people and dare I say it, front line workers who still haven't been vaccinated (for one reason or another) and yet ... (here we go) the youngsters are getting their vaccinations ahead of the afore mentioned people ... argh!!!!
🔹Then we find out that a new outbreak could risk a Christmas “under some level of restrictions” - betcha that's Auckland!!!!
The list goes on & on! Seriously WTH?
We can't leave to get vaccinated overseas, not that we could or want to in this current climate, but ... come on!!!!
Are we someone's social experiment or are we just someone's really bad example of how to make sure you order more than ENOUGH of any medical items?

So, as my husband is on call for all essential businesses that use his company's services, he was called out this afternoon.
All the protocols were followed i.e. appropriate paperwork that's required, making sure that his Covid essentials bag is full of masks, sanitiser etc ...
He left to head down to South Auckland as one of the old folk's homes had a wee emergency, and was he gobsmacked to discover a massive line of cars starting from the Henderson Mall area (where the testing station is) and almost completely down the full length of Bruce McLaren Road.
He turned around and went another way.
All the way down to South Auckland, he saw two Police cars.
One on the side of the road with a hand held speed monitor and the other one overtook him on the southern motorway. That was it.
He mentioned that there were hardly any cars or foot traffic in South Auckland, East Tamaki, Papatoetoe. They were all so well behaved.
West Auckland were all in panic mode waiting for hours to be tested.
WHY????
What's wrong with all of you who waited in line today to be tested?
Could you have not waited a few days?
Absolute unorganised mayhem.
Stay calm ... PLEASE.
Waiting for hours is just a complete waste of time. That time could be spent with your loved ones or getting your partner to do all those odd jobs etc ...
We know that the Delta variant is super contagious, so please, please behave as if you have caught it and keep away from everyone or at the very least, keep your distance and wear masks and sanitise everything.

All regions outside of the Auckland and Northland region will move to Alert Level 3 11.59pm Tuesday August 31.

In a press conference Friday afternoon, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern confirmed that Auckland and Northland will likely need to complete a further full two weeks at level 4 in order to keep the Delta variant from spreading further in the regions.

Here's what you need to know
- There will be regional boundaries, there will be no travel allowed between regions unless required for essential services.
- Boundaries maintained in the last February lockdown will be reinstated.
- Around 500 locations of interest have been identified.
- The exposure site in Warkworth is a large workplace. Ardern hoped the people of Northland will understand why they're moving with caution. Northland won't always be grouped in with Auckland.
