Over the last few weeks, we've been reaching out to our Afghani whānau who are extremely distressed about the safety and survival of their loved ones in Afghanistan. Through the Action Station petition and letters to Government, Migrant Action Trust joined the urgent plea for New Zealand to take in substantially more refugees from Afghanistan.
As a registered charity supporting refugees from arrival to integration, Migrant Action Trust runs free English and computer tutorials, pre-employment support and community driver mentoring programmes.

Footage posted to social media shows people scrambling to get out of the mall, screaming and yelling. Police have confirmed they are at the scene, and the video's caption suggests a firearm is involved. A staffer at Lynn Mall Pharmacy says a person coming to pick up a prescription ran in and alerted them someone in the mall might have a weapon. She says they closed their shutters to keep everyone inside safe - and have been in contacted with another pharmacy in the mall which is also locking down.

I am working from home during Level 4 but I can still help you. Some ideas I have are:
1. collecting your groceries for you,
2. walking your dog for you,
3. or even walking with you (we can wear masks and walk 2m apart and still chat),
4. or I can just come along to your letterbox and bring my thermos of coffee and we can sit 2 m apart, with masks on, and simply chat.
I live in Blockhouse Bay but I have a car so a wee drive to you is just fine too.

We are seeking your feedback about a possible Auckland to Waikato train service on Te Huia – for Aucklanders. We need feedback from both people who have and also those who have not used Te Huia already.
By completing the survey you are not only providing important feedback but you will also be entered into the draw for one of two $100 Visa Prezzy vouchers – the winners will be notified on September 6th.
The survey is being run by Mobius Research, an independent company, on behalf of the Waikato Regional Council. All responses to the survey will be anonymous.
The survey will take approximately 8 minutes to complete. When answering the survey, please respond based on your normal travel behaviour between Auckland and the Waikato outside the context of COVID-19 travel restrictions under alert levels 3 and 4.
