West Auckland residents could net new cycle ways in Henderson
Auckland Transport has announced new cycle routes proposed for West Auckland's Henderson.
Community feedback has helped AT identify eight bike routes which will form the backbone of the proposed new Henderson cycle network.
More than 500 submissions were made, with 275 new routes pinpointed, aimed at boosting safety for cyclists.
Once the proposed new network is confirmed, AT will look at ways to connect routes to surrounding areas.
The goal is to develop a comprehensive network which can be built over time, as funding becomes available.
“Cycling is a better option for the environment and makes up an essential part of our city’s shift towards a low-carbon transport system,” said Cliff Wilton, Auckland Transport's sustainable mobility manager.
