Rentals

Julia from Avondale

Hi
I went to view a rental that my family and i were excited to see on the weekend. Oh lordy! what a disappointment. When will they stop advertising properties that don't live up to the picture that they are portraying and show it in its real time state, warts and all??? I thought that there was a consumers protection act around false advertising??? I might be wrong. If this continues then the tenant should be able to ask for reduction in rent. Why? Because they in some cases are charged with cleaning the place up before they can even place their most treasured belongings in the home. The owners should be ashamed. I know no one will turn up if they showed warts and all. Well I think it's time for change. People are desperate, but come on, if you are getting good money from your tenants you have to lead by example. Those owners who make an effort deserve a medal. They aren't trying to hide anything. Their rent is also cheaper than the ones that don't make an effort. There are people out there who are only too happy to go and clean your property for you. Just make someones day and present your properties as if you are going to sell it. ( Hey, actually you are trying to do that in a way just to a tenant instead to rent).
What do you think renters? It's time for the korero.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Night-time chipsealing works on SH2

NZ Transport Agency (NZTA)

From 9 to 17 February, stop/go traffic management will be in place on SH2 between McPherson Road and Dimmock Road on multiple nights between 9pm and 5am (Sundays to Thursdays).

During the day, all lanes will be open, but speed restrictions will apply to allow the chipseal to set and to protect vehicles travelling over the newly laid surface.

There may be delays to your journey when travelling through the area. This is weather dependent so check NZTA Journey Planner before you travel.
