good reliable reasonable mechanic please
kia ora lovely neighbours
sorry, probably been asked before - but I'm looking for recommendations for a good reliable reasonable mechanic please
prefer Henderson - but open to suggestions
I have a good friend of mine who recently bought a car from a car dealership in south auckland (trying to move back this way - so car is currently here, out west)
he JUST got it and the transmission has issues - Mazda I think - this is waaay outside my area of expertise - I think he has rights (since he bought it from a dealership...?) - (thankfully, usually it's a 'mate' - & he spends more money getting it fixed, than pay for the car itself, or what it's worth)
anyway - last I heard it was trying to get it fixed from some place - pay them up front ($400, $500)- then try to get money back from the dealership (?) - and/or - trade the FIXED car (paid for out of pocket) in for another one - PAYING THEM yet *more money* - (argh - what?)
also *MY* WoF has expired
have - been going to my mother's old mechanic other side of the city (was her car before she moved into a retirement community in Nelson) - but needed a new battery a few months ago and people were going - you paid HOW much? ($200ish - he said it was new, 3 year warranty - told paid far too much - should have been about $50 ~sigh!~ ) so looking for someone I can TRUST - who won't rip me off, either of us off - reliable, reasonable, trustworthy...
please & thank you!

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
59.8% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
24.4% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
15.8% ... It is complicated
Night-time chipsealing works on SH2
From 9 to 17 February, stop/go traffic management will be in place on SH2 between McPherson Road and Dimmock Road on multiple nights between 9pm and 5am (Sundays to Thursdays).
During the day, all lanes will be open, but speed restrictions will apply to allow the chipseal to set and to protect vehicles travelling over the newly laid surface.
There may be delays to your journey when travelling through the area. This is weather dependent so check NZTA Journey Planner before you travel.
