As today marks ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก ๐๐๐ฒ, can I ask for your support to sign the petition to Save Waitakere Hospital.
The much needed upgrade of Waitakere Hospital has been put on hold when we have much less beds that other regions:
Auckland City - 1175 beds or 2.4 ๐๐๐๐ per 1000 people (Auckland serves the whole country)
North Shore - 680 beds or 1.7 ๐๐๐ per 1000 people
Middlemore - 905 beds or 1.6 ๐๐ per 1000 people
๐ผ๐ฃ๐ ๐ฎ๐ค๐ช ๐๐ช๐๐จ๐จ๐๐ ๐๐ฉ ๐ง๐๐๐๐ฉ .....
Waitakere Hospital - 285 beds or 1.2 ๐ per 1000 people.
West Auckland's population is growing and we need this Master Development Plan to be endorsed by the Minister of Health.
You can read more about the plan and link to the petition on the website.
Can you please consider taking a minute out of your busy schedule and sign this petition ๐
Then, kindly share this widely with you friends and family.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, thereโs a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need ๐ช๐ฐ๐ช
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship โ like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
60% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
25.7% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
14.3% ... It is complicated
Poll: Should complete designs be shared with the public, or should the community help shape the designs from the start?
The Post recently shared an opinion piece on the Harbour Crossing and why a more democratic approach might be needed ๐๐ฒ๐
While most decisions sit within the political arena, many organisationsโlike NZTAโmanage long-term projects that go beyond party lines. Politics can sometimes disrupt progress, and the next Harbour Crossing is a big decision that will affect all Aucklanders.
Weโd love your thoughts: Should near-complete, shovel-ready designs be shared with the public, or should the community have a hand in shaping the designs from the start?
-
88% Community feedback and transparency is needed.
-
12% No. This would be impossible in practice.
