The food trucks joining us on the night will be:
- Nom Nom – South East Asian inspired rice bowls brimming with flavour
- Manila Eats – Primo Pinoy inspired gourmet rolls and other tasty treats
- El Patron – Artisan Chorizos - Chilean artisan chorizos.
- Mama Yoya's - Everyone's favourite authentic Mexican cuisine queen
- The Langos Lady - Hungarian Fried Bread with sweet and savoury toppings
- Kookie Haus/ Doughnut Haus - Next level cookies and doughnuts

On the entertainment menu there will be music, free face painting, free ReCreators children craft workshop and a live African drumming performance. The night will also feature Te Atatu’s free repair café in the community centre. Bring along your household items to be fixed for free (koha/ donation appreciated). Neighbours at 249 Edmonton Road will also be having their art gallery exhibition opening night.
Come grab some tasty food and soak up the community vibes. Plenty of seating available or picnic in the park. Parking available on site. Walking or cycling up makes it even easier.

I am campaigning to protect our green spaces, including planting more trees, cleaning up shared spaces and stopping the sell-off of our parks.
We urgently need to prepare for more people in our area which means upgrading Waitakere Hospital and building new community facilities like a swimming pool complex in Massey. My career is in management and finance and my passion is serving the community.
I have been involved with local organisations for over 25 years including being the current President of Waitakere Indian Association, panel member for Te Manawa Active Aotearoa Fund for Sport Waitakere, the Community Organisation Grants Scheme, Community Patrol and Neighbourhood Support Waitakere and as a community board member on various other organisations.
I want Henderson Massey to thrive.

Saturday is International Observe the Moon Night and to mark the occasion, a historic telescope used during some of the first human missions to the moon will be open to the public at Auckland's Stardome Observatory and Planetarium (670 Manukau Road, Epsom).
The EWB Zeiss telescope was used to manually track Apollo missions when Houston didn't have radio contact with its spacecraft and astronauts.
The public are invited to use the telescope to view the moon on Saturday until 10.30pm at the stardome at 670 Manukau Road, Epsom.
“It will be five days after the new moon, so looking up from the Southern Hemisphere, we will easily be able locate the various maria, or seas, on the eastern half of the near-side of the moon. These are the Sea of Serenity, Sea of Tranquillity, Sea of Crises, Sea of Fecundity, and Sea of Nectar,” Stardome telescope operator Daley Panthagani said.
Entry costs $2 per adult and $1 per child. The Stardome will also be putting on educational shows about the moon for additional fees. For more info visit www.stardome.org.nz...

Others (like humans and songbirds) must learn by listening and imitating—which leads to the interesting phenomenon of dialects. Dr Wesley Webb will take us on a tour of the astonishing diversity of acoustic communication in animals, including many native NZ taonga. He will also reveal some surprises about male and female song dialects in New Zealand bellbirds, the topic of his PhD. Brace yourself for weird and wonderful animal sounds!

Planning took place over the previous six weeks where … View moreSix of our NZQA Diploma Cookery students signed up for the New Zealand Hospitality Championships – previously known as the Culinary Fare run by the New Zealand Chefs Association at the recent Hospitality Hui held on on September 19, 2022.
Planning took place over the previous six weeks where the students formulated their dish concepts. Practical cooking sessions enabled them to test and try out their culinary ideas and refine their dishes.
These efforts were boosted by the reflections of our Head Chef Finn Gybel and his stories of when he had competed in Denmark nearly 20 years ago. Back then, our Chef Finn was sous chef to René Redzepi, now rated as one of the great chefs of the world.
As a result, we won 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.

Based on the low voter turnouts most people don’t care much about local government elections but these elections have more to do with people’s everyday lives than central government elections. They cover our footpaths, local roads and parks which you interact with more on a daily basis.
I can understand peoples lack of interest. It is time consuming to find out information on candidates and some people find the complexity of all the roles and votes too much. It’s not like central government where information is in the news daily. Due to these difficulties, most voters resort to voting based on the political “colours’ they know, old names they recognize or not voting at all.
Hopefully people take the time to find out about the candidates, where they live, how long they have lived there and what they actually stand for.
