The new Kauri Glen Reserve track and boardwalk is now open!

John Gillon from

The Shore Action team visited Kauri Glen Reserve today to check out the new Section 18 track and boardwalk! The realigned track is the first bush track to reopen after being upgraded to prevent kauri dieback disease, and part of the Kaipātiki Local Board's efforts to provide new and alternative tracks away from kauri trees in our parks.
A report is coming to the September Local Board meeting seeking approval for a number of other track changes in our parks. For Kauri Glen Reserve, this will include several other realignments, including a 16m high elevated treetop boardwalk! It will also include a proposal to temporarily close the paths to/from Raymond Tce and Tui Glen Rd until those tracks can be brought up to dieback-preventative standard.
